Fed Chair Kashkari: Task Force to Hold Hearing in November Focused on AI's Economic Impact

Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Kashkari stated on Friday that the Federal Reserve's Productivity and Employment Task Force will host an on-site field hearing in the San Francisco Bay Area on November 16, with a core focus on topics including the economic impacts of artificial intelligence. Kashkari announced the arrangement during the IMF Annual Meetings held in Bangkok. He noted that the task force will conduct in-depth research on the impacts of artificial intelligence on economic activity and the labor market. Back in June this year, Kashkari established five task forces composed of external experts, each dedicated to researching key domains in monetary policy formulation. He previously indicated that these task forces are expected to submit policy recommendations to the Federal Reserve around the end of this year. Kashkari did not issue any comments on monetary policy or the outlook for the U.S. economy on this occasion.
