Vitalik Demonstrates 'Privacy Mode' for AI Agent: Integrating Tor, zkAPI, and Local LLM

Vitalik Buterin posted on the X platform stating that he has added a 'paranoid mode' wrapper to his AI agent tool, integrating zkAPI, Tor, random cover traffic, and local LLM prompt rewriting. Each conversation uses an independent Tor circuit, zkAPI is deployed to obscure payment identities, and the local model handles prompt rewriting. The agent's runtime environment also enforces Tor-routed network access via the bwrap sandbox and torsocks. Vitalik noted that this solution is already functional, but latency caused by new conversation initialization and Tor remains relatively high. Against coordinated active attacks from model service providers and Tor entry nodes, existing cover traffic protections still have limitations, and a dedicated mix network may be required in the future. He also stated that lower-cost zkAPI top-up and withdrawal gas fees will soon go live on the mainnet.
