Canadian 'Crypto King' Accused of Squandering $16.3 Million in Investor Funds on Luxury Vehicles, Private Jets and Other Expenses

Aiden Pleterski, who refers to himself as the 'Crypto King', is on trial at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Toronto. A senior forensic accountant from the Ontario Securities Commission testified that between 2020 and 2022, investors contributed a total of $36.3 million to him, and he diverted nearly half of that sum for personal expenses. Specific expenditures include approximately $5.6 million for luxury vehicles, $4.9 million in credit card bills, $870,000 for travel and private jet services, $598,000 for security costs, and nearly $3.7 million in transfers to his parents. Meanwhile, he paid out roughly $16.1 million to investors purporting to be 'returns'.
