Hong Kong Stock Exchange IPO fundraising amount in first three quarters hits new 15-year record

In the first three quarters of 2026, 115 enterprises listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange IPO market, raising a total of HK$385.566 billion, a fundraising scale exceeding the full-year level of any year since 2011. Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, Deloitte and KPMG recently stated consecutively that the full-year IPO fundraising amount on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange is poised to approach HK$500 billion. The booming market has also benefited intermediary institutions, with the top three underwriters accounting for a combined 42% of total underwriting volume. However, resource constraints among sponsoring institutions and their practice quality remain under regulatory scrutiny. The Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong stated on October 13 that current resource strain has eased, reflected by the proportion of pending listing applications handled by the five most active sponsors dropping from 77% at the start of the year to 65% in September, and the number of overburdened principal authorized signatories decreasing by 78%.
