Michael Saylor Responds to Potential MSCI MSTR Delisting: It Is Not That Important to Strategy, Hopes MSCI Will Reconsider
Michael Saylor, founder of Bitcoin treasury company Strategy, addressed the possibility of MSTR being excluded under MSCI's new index rules in a Bloomberg interview. He stated that this move is not particularly significant to Strategy given the relatively small scale of the funds involved, but expressed disappointment with MSCI's position to date. He noted that oil, natural gas, land and machinery are all classified as capital, while Bitcoin is not — a value judgment that constitutes a bias against digital assets. He compared MSCI to an unregistered financial advisor that has set a "bad precedent" for the entire industry, and expressed hope that the firm will reconsider. Digital assets represent the future; MSCI may not wish to participate in this future, but investors will not agree, nor will the United States. If MSCI abandons the proposal to delist MSTR, it will benefit the entire industry.
