Important'Bitcoin Jesus' Roger Ver Reaches Agreement With Trump Administration, Will Pay Up To $49.9 Million To Settle U.S. Tax Allegations
Early Bitcoin investor Roger Ver, known as 'Bitcoin Jesus', has entered a deferred prosecution agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice to resolve criminal allegations of mail fraud and tax evasion against him. Under the agreement, if Ver complies with relevant terms, the indictment against him will be dismissed after one month, and the Internal Revenue Service may recover up to $49.9 million from him, covering taxes, civil penalties and interest. The U.S. Department of Justice previously alleged that after Ver renounced his U.S. citizenship in 2014 and obtained citizenship of St. Kitts and Nevis, he failed to pay at least $48 million in taxes. Ver was arrested in Spain in April 2024. Earlier this year, he publicly called on Trump to assist in ending the legal actions against him, but ultimately did not receive a presidential pardon, and instead resolved the case through an agreement reached with the Trump administration.
