Anthropic Co-founder: AI Could Boost U.S. GDP to $44 Trillion, With Only a Few Years Left for Humanity to Build Defenses

Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark warns that artificial intelligence could drive U.S. GDP up from roughly $30 trillion to $44 trillion, but humanity may only have a few years to establish effective safety guardrails to ensure AI does not slip out of human control. Jack Clark also specifically cautioned that AI could trigger the so-called "singularity", and called for the formulation of global rules to prevent AI from being misused in biological research and cyber weapon development. In related news, Anthropic is reportedly planning an IPO in November, at which point the company's valuation could reach $2 trillion.
