Trump's Approval Rating Drops to 33%, Republicans Face Mounting Pressure Ahead of U.S. Midterm Elections
With two weeks remaining before U.S. midterm election voting day, the Republican Party is confronting a severe political landscape. According to a joint poll conducted by The Washington Post, ABC News and Ipsos, U.S. President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to a new low. Amid intensifying inflationary pressures and growing voter discontent, the Democratic Party's support in the battle for control of Congress is on the rise. Trump currently holds a 33% approval rating, with a 66% disapproval rating; 52% of respondents strongly disapprove of his performance. This approval rating represents an 8-percentage-point decline from the same period last year, and is lower than any point during his first term in office. The poll also found that for the first time in over a decade, the Democratic Party has earned higher voter trust on economic governance issues than the Republican Party.
