ByteDance responds to claim that 'over half of China's computing power is used to produce binge-worthy short dramas': Only around 10% of the company's total computing power is allocated to video generation
Liu Xing, Head of Public Relations for Doubao, issued a statement addressing the topic that 'over half of China's computing power is dedicated to producing binge-worthy short dramas', stating that the relevant computing power data is unreliable. For ByteDance specifically, only approximately 10% of the company's total computing power is used for the training and inference of video generation models. Previously, Chinese Online disclosed in an 'Investor Relations Activity Record' that 55% of AI Token consumption in China is directed toward short drama and video generation, 24% to e-commerce advertising, and only 15% to actual R&D. The Token consumption for AI short dramas and video generation has already exceeded twice that of software development, making it the largest consumption scenario in Token economics.
