JPMorgan: CoreWeave Debt Sell-Off Poses Limited Risk to Global Banks

JPMorgan estimated on Tuesday that most global banks have limited exposure to CoreWeave (CRWV.O). This assessment follows a sharp decline in the cloud computing firm backed by NVIDIA in its share price and bonds last week, driven by investor concerns over its debt financing issues. JPMorgan noted that while potential exposure to CoreWeave for large U.S. investment banks and Japan's MUFG could range from $1 billion to $3 billion, most European and Asian participants hold exposure of less than $500 million. The majority of this exposure is structured through delayed-draw term loans, which are primarily held via special purpose entities, with funds disbursed only when predefined project milestones are met. From the perspective of financing banks, JPMorgan believes banks' exposure to CoreWeave is well-managed and backed by very robust collateral.
