World Gold Council Latest Report: Digital Gold Market Size Reaches $45 Billion to $55 Billion
The World Gold Council has released the *Digital Gold Market Opportunities Report*. The report indicates that the current digital gold market size stands between $45 billion and $55 billion. Digital gold converts trusted physical gold into tradable digital "standard gold units" to support a range of products and services including tokenized gold, custodial gold, and collateral, free from the constraints of physical gold bar attributes and storage locations. The report's five-year baseline scenario forecast projects that the digital gold market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of approximately 27%, reaching a market size of $160 billion to $170 billion by 2031. The report notes that the physical gold investment market is valued at approximately $13 trillion, yet digital gold — including vault-held digital gold and tokenized gold — currently accounts for less than 1% of the global physical gold market.
