ImportantLido Engineering Lead Warns of Staking Deposit Hijacking Risks During Ethereum Glamsterdam Upgrade Transition Period
Lido Engineering Lead Dima Gusakov revealed that delegated staking protocols face front-running attack risks during the Ethereum Glamsterdam hard fork transition. Glamsterdam will introduce builder deposits that use 0xB0-prefixed withdrawal credentials. Before and after the fork, these deposits will share the same deposit queue as validator deposits, allowing malicious node operators to seize stakers' funds, divert them into the attacker's builder account, and prevent the corresponding validators from being activated. The related fix proposal (consensus-specs #5735) has been closed with a "not planned" status, meaning defenses must be implemented by individual staking protocols via pre-deposit checks.
