View allXRP Ledger Developers Propose Four Fixes to Tighten Restricted Token Holding Rules
XRP Ledger developers have put forward four fixes designed to close loopholes that allow restricted tokens to enter accounts without prior approval from the token issuer. These changes have been consolidated into the network upgrade fixCleanup3_5_0, which has not yet been activated on the mainnet. Some restricted tokens on the XRP Ledger require explicit approval from the issuer before an account is permitted to hold them, but developers have identified several methods that bypass this approval requirement. The fixes mandate that both tokens in an Automated Market Maker (AMM) pool must be approved before a user can purchase assets from the pool, and resolve the issue where approval checks were only triggered on zero-balance trust lines, allowing trust lines that already hold tokens to continue receiving additional tokens. The XRP Ledger Foundation stated that this is a routine protocol hardening measure, not a security incident, and no user impacts have been reported to date.
India's Largest Crypto Exchange CoinDCX Temporarily Restricts New Futures Positions Due to Binance Incident
India's largest crypto exchange CoinDCX has temporarily restricted new futures positions after a Binance security incident disrupted a key liquidity provider. A CoinDCX spokesperson confirmed to CoinDesk that the referenced liquidity provider is Binance. Under the restriction, traders cannot open new positions or increase the size of existing long/short positions, but remain able to add or remove margin on existing positions, while open orders will continue to be executed. CoinDCX noted that deposit and withdrawal services are operating normally, and customer funds are safe. This restriction applies exclusively to futures trading as a temporary measure, and no timeline has been provided for the resumption of normal trading operations.
