CZ: The Impact of the Binance Hack Incident Is Far Less Than the Shock of the Mt.Gox Incident on Bitcoin

CZ published a statement responding to discussions that the Binance hack incident has a limited impact on Bitcoin's price, noting that the stolen $63 million in this incident is the largest in U.S. dollar terms, but not when measured by the quantity of BTC. Mt.Gox lost approximately 650,000 BTC in its incident, accounting for over 5% of Bitcoin's total circulating supply, resulting in a far greater impact. CZ pointed out that evaluating the impact of a hack incident also requires considering the number of affected users and the proportion of their impaired assets. In the Mt.Gox and FTX incidents, affected users and their asset scales were nearly fully covered, while the victim in this Binance incident is only the platform itself, with no user assets affected, and the platform will bear all losses. CZ acknowledged that this incident remains a major blow to the crypto industry, Binance, and himself, but emphasized that Binance is capable of weathering the crisis, with the top priority being protecting users.
