Supreme People's Procuratorate discloses 1.2 million USDT fraud case: Virtual currency transactions do not fall under the regulatory scope of the crime of contract fraud
A virtual currency-related fraud case involving 1.2 million USDT was recently concluded in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, with procuratorial authorities issuing clear legal definitions for the characterization of the case.
In this case, individuals including Wang set up a scam under the pretext of purchasing USDT, defrauding the victim Xiao of virtual currency worth 1.2 million yuan. Initially, public security organs transferred the case for review and prosecution on suspicion of the crime of snatching. After review, the procuratorial authorities determined that the actors' act of using a fake transaction as bait to essentially defraud others of their virtual currency satisfies the constituent elements of the crime of fraud, and accordingly initiated a public prosecution to the court on the charge of fraud.

During the trial, the defense counsel submitted a defense opinion that the case should be characterized as the crime of contract fraud, as there are clear differences in the sentencing ranges of the two types of offenses. The public prosecutor explicitly pointed out that the legislative purpose of establishing the crime of contract fraud in the Criminal Law is to maintain the normal socialist market economic order, which requires the content of the involved contract to possess legitimate market economic attributes.

Since virtual currency-related transactions are illegal financial activities explicitly prohibited by the state and are not protected by law, fraud acts related to such transactions do not fall under the regulatory scope of the crime of contract fraud, and criminal responsibility shall be pursued in accordance with the law on the charge of fraud. This ruling provides a clear reference standard for the subsequent legal application of domestic virtual currency-related fraud cases.

Ansem on Bitcoin Short-Term Trading: Failure to Follow Expected Price Action Over Extended Period May Signal an Exit
Prominent trader Ansem stated in a post that time is an often-underestimated risk management factor in short-cycle trading. When he enters a position anticipating rapid price movement, he expects the market to move in the intended direction within a relatively short timeframe. If Bitcoin lingers near the entry price for an extended period and fails to develop in line with the expected trajectory, he will reassess the underlying trade logic. Ansem added that the advantage of short-cycle trading lies in the ability to identify much earlier whether a trade is performing as intended. As such, he sometimes exits a position early due to prolonged unfulfilled expected price action, even before the stop-loss level is triggered. Both price and time are critical considerations when evaluating whether an existing position remains worth holding.
Privacy Public Chain Iron Fish Officially Shuts Down Network Due to Severe Inflation Vulnerability
Privacy public chain Iron Fish has announced the termination of all network support
The official Iron Fish statement confirms that all remaining operational support for its mainnet will be discontinued later on the day of the announcement, after the team detected anomalous activity involving wIRON and the ChainPort cross-chain bridge.

Following joint investigation with cross-chain bridge service provider ChainPort, the root cause of the anomaly was identified as an inflation vulnerability inherent to the Iron Fish blockchain itself. This vulnerability can be traced back to a code commit for the Merkle tree implementation during the project's development phase in early 2019.

Due to a minor deviation in the calculation logic of the "note nullifier" — the mechanism designed to verify user asset ownership — in the standard Merkle tree implemented by developers at that time, attackers were able to reuse the same asset note for multiple spends, directly triggering an inflation-type security risk.

This network shutdown is an extreme risk mitigation measure adopted by the project team in response to a high-severity native vulnerability, implemented to prevent further exploitation of the flaw that would cause greater asset losses for users.
