Binance is in license negotiations with Malaysian regulators, seeking to re-enter the local market

Binance is in discussions with Malaysian regulatory authorities to obtain a license to operate in the country. A Binance spokesperson stated that over the past 10 months, Binance has been engaging with the Securities Commission Malaysia and Bank Negara Malaysia to explore a licensed pathway for offering products and services in Malaysia, with discussions covering "the feasibility and structure of a licensed business model in Malaysia". In July 2021, the Securities Commission Malaysia found that Binance was operating a digital asset exchange illegally at the time, and ordered it to cease all operations in Malaysia, including halting all media and marketing activities. The commission removed Binance from its investor alert list in 2024, but re-added it earlier this month without providing any explanation for the move.
