CoinByte Weekly Wrap: Bitcoin’s Bold Forecast, Wall Street Embraces Tokenization
Happy Friday! Welcome to the 43th instalment of the Coinbyte Weekly Wrap.
This week, institutional interest in Bitcoin and the broader digital asset market remained a key theme. Bitwise raised its 10-year Bitcoin price target to US$1.6 million by 2036, citing growing institutional adoption, demand for store-of-value assets and Bitcoin’s limited supply. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino also revealed that the company holds approximately 150,000 BTC worth US$11.5 billion, reinforcing its position among the largest corporate Bitcoin holders. Meanwhile, the number of XRP wallets holding at least 1 million tokens reached 2,147, the highest level of 2026.
Tokenization continued to gain momentum across traditional financial markets. Standard Chartered forecast that non-stablecoin onchain assets could grow 50-fold to approximately US$2 trillion by 2028, driven by the tokenization of bonds, funds and other real-world assets. Morgan Stanley also became one of the first banks to tokenize U.S. equities and Treasurys through DTCC’s new service, which launched with 20 participating institutions, including JPMorgan, Citi and UBS. In Hong Kong, Standard Chartered launched tokenized deposits for corporate clients, while the HKMA advanced Project Ensemble to support 24/7 settlement using tokenized central bank money.
Regulatory developments also shaped the industry this week. The SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance viewed Canton Coin as a digital commodity and issued a no-action position on its programmatic issuance under specified conditions. France’s Senate advanced legislation adopting the OECD’s Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF), supporting cross-border exchanges of crypto transaction and user information. Meanwhile, Russia’s Moscow Exchange plans to list Bitcoin, Ether and USDT in December, expanding access to digital assets within its traditional financial market.
Beyond digital assets, artificial intelligence remained another area of development, with DeepSeek’s Harness team proposing a Super-agent architecture designed to handle multiple tasks with less human supervision. Together, these developments highlight the continued expansion of digital assets across institutional investment, tokenized financial infrastructure and regulated markets, alongside advances in AI-driven automation.

Standard Chartered’s global head of digital assets research, Geoff Kendrick, forecasts non-stablecoin onchain assets to grow 50-fold over the next two to three years, reaching approximately US$2 trillion by 2028. Market | Bitwise Projects US$1.6M Bitcoin by 2036
Bitwise has raised its 10-year Bitcoin price target to US$1.6 million by 2036, up from US$1.3 million previously, projecting a 34.3% annualized growth rate. The forecast is based on growing institutional adoption, rising demand for store-of-value assets and Bitcoin’s limited supply. link

Adoption | Russia’s Moscow Exchange plans to begin trading Bitcoin, Ether and Tether’s USDT on December 1, with transactions cleared through the National Clearing Centre. Retail investors will face an annual purchase limit of 300,000 rubles (about US$3,700), while qualified investors will have no cap. Both the exchange and clearing house are under U.S. sanctions. link
Adoption | The number of XRP wallets holding at least 1 million tokens reached 2,147, the highest level of 2026, according to Santiment. The number increased by 28 wallets over 10 days, including 18 in the final three days, despite XRP trading near recent lows. link
Institution | Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the company holds approximately 150,000 BTC worth US$11.5 billion, making it one of the largest corporate Bitcoin holders. The figure is about 50,000 BTC higher than implied by its latest USDT reserve report, as the additional holdings may be held separately as corporate investments. link
Tokenization | Morgan Stanley is among the first banks to tokenize U.S. equities and Treasurys through DTCC’s new service, which launched with 20 participating institutions, including JPMorgan, Citi and UBS. The bank also plans to support tokenized equities on its alternative trading system in Q1 2027. link
Regulation | The SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance views Canton Coin (CC) as a digital commodity and will not recommend enforcement action against its programmatic issuance under specified conditions. The decision is based on Canton Network’s decentralized structure and the token’s utility-driven value, rather than expectations of profit from others’ efforts. link
Regulation | France’s Senate has adopted a bill approving the OECD’s Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF), allowing tax authorities to automatically exchange crypto transaction and user information with other jurisdictions. France plans to begin sharing data collected in 2026 from 2027, with the bill still requiring approval from the National Assembly. link
Technology | DeepSeek’s Harness team has proposed a “Super-agent” architecture that allows a single AI agent to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with less human supervision. Internal tests showed the system completed tasks in a median of 12.4 minutes, compared with 20.4 minutes for a conventional single-session setup. DeepSeek said the system remains a prototype, not an official product. link
