Aave Proposes Cutting Lending Caps for V3 and V4, Removing Approximately $3.8 Billion in Unused Borrowing Limits

Per the Aave governance forum, risk service provider LlamaRisk has proposed lowering the borrow caps for 27 total reserves on Aave V3 and the draw caps for 6 total credit lines on Aave V4, with the new caps set at approximately 1.02 times the borrowing amount recorded prior to the exploit. Aave previously froze V3 and V4 reserves following the Binance hot wallet incident on October 29. The adjustment will remove roughly $3.7 billion in unused limits from V3 and approximately $130 million from V4. Taking V3 Core as an example, the WETH borrow cap will be reduced from 2.4 million units to 1.79 million units, while USDT and USDC will be lowered to 2.56 billion and 2.27 billion respectively. LlamaRisk noted that the attacker still holds large volumes of ETH, stablecoins, and governance tokens, and could rapidly establish large positions once the markets are unfrozen.

Block, the fintech firm led by Jack Dorsey, announced that it will advance the transformation of its crypto and payments platform Cash App into a comprehensive digital bank, aiming to boost user engagement and customer retention via products including stock and ETF trading, BTC transactions, short-term loans, high-yield savings accounts, and custom debit cards. Currently, Cash App has 9.4 million users that use it as their primary banking service tool, representing a 17% year-over-year increase. Block disclosed in August this year that it has doubled its legal reserve for a potential settlement related to a multi-year ongoing investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to $526 million.

Binance: $6.34 billion in corporate funds have been reserved to cover losses, and asset recovery for users has commenced

Binance posted on the X platform stating that it has begun restoring affected assets for users, and will continue collaborating with law enforcement agencies, token issuers, blockchain intelligence firms, and industry partners to track, freeze, and recover additional funds. Binance noted that it has reserved over $6.34 billion in corporate funds to cover losses from this incident, of which $5 billion is already held in the same type of affected tokens, and the remaining portion is being supplemented by purchasing corresponding tokens through market and OTC channels. This process may take a significant amount of time due to the low liquidity of some tokens and the time required for OTC settlement. The aforementioned amount does not include frozen or protected assets. Approximately $3 billion in assets have been frozen to date, and Binance is advancing recovery efforts in partnership with relevant collaborators and law enforcement agencies.

Google DeepMind Research: AI Collaborative Capability Is the Key Driver of Economic Transformation

Google DeepMind researchers Alex Imas, Andrew Koh, and co-founder Shane Legg published a paper stating that improvements in individual AI capabilities will only exert gradual impacts on wages and prices. Abrupt shifts in market concentration, employment, and wages will only occur when the multi-agent collaborative capability crosses the "super-collaboration" threshold. The paper divides AI development into four stages: Minimum AGI, Super-Competent AI, Super-Collaborative AI, and ASI. It notes that current AI systems boast strong individual capabilities but weak collaborative performance, meaning changes in wages and jobs will precede adjustments to corporate structures. The authors call for the establishment of benchmarks to measure the organizational capabilities of multi-agent systems.
